Scuba diving in La Paz, Baja California Sur is an amazing experience. The water is clear and warm, and there is an abundance of marine life to see. You can spot sea turtles, dolphins, sharks, and even whale sharks. There are many different dive sites to choose from, so you can find one that is perfect for your experience level.
With plenty of diving sites to choose from, there are a lot of things to do and see. At Nautilus Dive Tech you can customize your experience at any point, be sure to be in the best hands with our certified instructors and Dive masters; wearing the best scuba diving gear and having been prepared in our 5-meter deep pool, you can expect an amazing diving experience by your own.
Itinerary and Logistics
Our adventure to La Paz begins at the Nautilus DiveTech facilities, where we will meet at 6:00 am to leave to the park. We can take you to a local restaurant for some breakfast to go.
The park is 2.5 hours away by road, once we get to the shore we deploy our boat to get to the diving sites, this takes 1 hour of sea travel.
The moment we reach a nice distance between the diving sites we check the diving gear one last time and decide which site is the best, depending on the weather, saturation, and opportunities to watch specific species.
The trip consists of two dives at your favorite diving locations, the first one is recommended to be a bit easier and shallow so you can gain confidence for a second more complex and interesting one.
Once we finish the two dives we sail back to the shore, in the way back we can probably see other magnificent species, such as minky whales. since the return is a bit long we suggest eating lunch on the boat so that when we get to the shore we can get back to Cabo in good time.
Since it’s a full day, we recommend sleeping well, bringing extra clothes, a cold jacket, and anything that makes you feel comfortable on the road.

The tour starts at sunrise (6:00 AM) and the trip from Cabo San Lucas to La Paz takes 2.5 hours.
The trip by boat to the diving sites takes 1 hour to go and 1 hour to return.
2.5 hours to return to Nautilus from La Paz.
The tour ends at approximately 2:00 PM.

Since La Paz has a variety of diving sites that range from beginner to advanced diving, we require an Open water certification.

We require a minimum of 3 Divers for this trip (it can be one group or mixed clients). For groups of less than 3 people, or individual tours, request your quote.

La Reina
Diving at La Reina is an amazing experience. The water is crystal clear and visibility is often over 100 feet. The reef is home to a variety of marine life, including schools of fish, turtles, rays, and sharks.
One of the most popular things to do at La Reina is to see the giant manta rays. These gentle giants can grow up to 20 feet wide and they often come to the reef to feed on plankton. It is an unforgettable experience to swim alongside these amazing creatures.

Los Islotes
Diving in Los Islotes is a truly unique experience. The site is home to a large colony of sea lions, which are playful and curious creatures. You can also see a variety of other marine life, including fish, turtles, and rays.
The water is clear and visibility is often over 100 feet. The sea lions are often seen swimming around the divers, and they may even come up to you for a closer look. It is an unforgettable experience to be surrounded by these playful creatures.
Los Islotes is a great place to dive for all levels of experience. There are plenty of shallow reefs for beginners and more challenging dives for experienced divers.

El Bajo
El Bajo is composed of 3 underwater mountains that don´t reach the surface. The seamount is located about 8 miles offshore from La Paz. It is a popular spot for divers of all levels, with amazing scenery and the opportunity to see pelagic species.
One great specie to see at El Bajo is the hammerhead shark, which can often be seen in large schools, as well as blacktip and whitetip sharks.
Since El Bajo is a site with strong currents and deep dives, it requires an Advanced diving certification.

Isla Ballena
Isla Ballena is located about 15 miles off the coast of La Paz. It is a popular spot for divers of all levels. The shallower areas are good for beginners, while the deeper areas are more challenging for experienced divers.
The site offers many cave systems for you to explore, as well as amazing corals and large schools of fish.

Punta lobos
Punta Lobos is a great diving site located in the northern part of the island Espiritu Santo. It is a popular spot for divers of all levels and is known for its clear waters, abundant marine life, and beautiful scenery.
Punta Lobos is a great place to dive for all levels of experience. The shallower areas are good for beginners, while the deeper areas are more challenging for experienced divers. There is a large colony of sea lions at Punta Lobos, which are playful and curious creatures. You can often see them swimming around the divers, and they may even come up to you for a closer look.

Swanee Reef
This site is excellent to see all kind of marine life and corals of all shapes and colors, but its main attraction is the Salvatierra Wreck.
The Salvatierra wreck is located on the southern tip of Isla Espiritu Santo, about 20 miles off the coast of La Paz. It is a shallow wreck, so it is accessible to divers of all levels. The wreck is about 100 feet long, and it is divided into two main sections. The bow section is in better condition than the stern section, and it is home to a variety of fish, including grouper, snapper, and angelfish. The stern section is more challenging to dive, but it is home to some interesting marine life, including eels and moray eels.
